Germany: The world's first major renewable energy economy

battery restore No Comments »

The planet Earth will be completely devastated by 2050 if natural resources will be exploited at the current rate.

«According to the scientists, in 50 years people will have to move to another planet, because life on Earth will be impossible». This statement is from 2006. And in 2018 this prediction has been confirmed by the fact that the annual volume of renewable resources of the planet ended on August 1, 2018.

Can we stop this huge conveyor? – It is difficult but possible. The key word in this mission is renewable resources.

This documentary shows renewable energy sector in Germany. The country is well known as “The world’s first major renewable energy economy”, and in this film I learned something new about green energy.

Please like, and comment below what do you think about the future of renewable energy. Would it save the Earth?

Algeria has been taking huge steps towards making green energy a larger part of their domestic output. An abundance of open space with sunlight – and underground hydrokinetic activity – makes the country a goldmine for renewable energies. The Algerian government intends to use renewable energy to meet all of the the country’s domestic power demands by 2030. The risk of banking on renewable energy | DW News

Germany, Europe’s biggest economy with a huge industrial base, has long aimed to make the transition to green energy. In 2018, renewables such as wind, hydroelectric, solar and bio-mass power made up more than 40 percent of Germany’s energy mix. However, conventional energy sources still play a big role, and the clock is ticking. Germany plans to phase out nuclear power by 2022 and coal by 2038. But there’s a catch. Relying on renewables can pose a risk to energy security.

This talk is a wonderful global perspective on climate change and the effective actions we can take as individuals to collectively save the planet. Gordian Raacke is executive director of Renewable Energy Long Island, a not-for-profit organization working to accelerate the transition to 100% renewable energy systems. With a degree in civil engineer and 25-year track record on regional energy issues, Mr. Raacke will portray why and how we must and will transition to a 100% renewable energy supply glocally.
Gordian was a founding member of the Long Island Offshore Wind Initiative established in 2002, helped build the solar market on Long Island, and was trained by Vice President Al Gore as a Climate Reality Leader. In 2011, he led an initiative to study a one-hundred percent renewable electricity future for the region. He chaired the Energy Sustainability Committee of the Town of East Hampton and serves on the Town of Southampton Sustainability Committee, helping to formulate and implement community-wide 100% renewable energy goals. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Every year, the world uses 35 billion barrels of oil. This massive scale of fossil fuel dependence pollutes the earth, and it won’t last forever. On the other hand, we have abundant sun, water and wind, which are all renewable energy sources. So why don’t we exchange our fossil fuel dependence for an existence based only on renewables? Federico Rosei and Renzo Rosei describe the challenges.

Lesson by Federico Rosei and Renzo Rosei, directed by Giulia Martinelli.
